The Edgehill School for those with Disabilities is one of only a handful of schools catering to Children with Challenges. The School was built by the Rotary club of Ocho Rios so is a special place for us. Sadly during the passing of Hurricane Melissa the roof suffered severe damage with both roof coming off and beams damaged. Total cost to replace is around $80,000 US or $13,000,000 JA dollars. We are currently looking partners from across the globe to help with this project, if you can assist please contact us.
We have partnered with the Building Bridges program to help build better relationships between the Police and local communities. To this end the program is omentoring 2 students between 12-14 who are currently not attanding school regularly due to social or financial needs. each child is assigned a Police officer who will mentor them, make sure they have what they need to attend school and encourage in community life. There will also be team building days for all. Rotary is asking Clubs from around the world to donate $100 US or more to the cause on an annual basis (will also take funds from other sources). We would like to make this the largest group project in Rotary History, is your club in?
Working alongside the St Ann's Poor relief Department we have sponsored 20 famalies all of which have mental or physical disabilities that prevent them from working. Our donations are life savers and the famalies look forward to our Bi-annual giving. Food, toilettries and cleaning supplies are always need so all donations gratefully received.
